Tuesday is a First Alert Weather Day: The remnants of Beryl could have significant impacts across parts of our region, flash flooding is possible, small rivers and streams would rise quickly, and there is a slight risk of severe weather, primarily in southeast St. Louis, for isolated tornadoes and strong wind gusts. The Flood Warning is broad to cover any shifts in the track, but in general we expect 2-4 inches in the Flood Warning with lower totals in the northwest. Some isolated totals may reach 4-6 inches. The afternoon and evening severe weather risk will be focused closer to the core of the remnants of Beryl, which will be in our southeast (where there is a Level 2 and 3 severe weather risk in the map below). However, there is a lowest Level 1 severe weather risk near and south/east of St. Louis, so we will need to monitor any stronger storms that develop during the afternoon or evening.

The latest model trend is for the rain to taper off a little quicker, perhaps by late Tuesday evening. At this point, the heaviest rain shouldn’t have much of an impact on the Missouri and Mississippi rivers in our area unless the track shifts further northwest. And currently, no flooding or minor flooding is forecast for the Big, Bourbeuse, and Meramec rivers. But we’ll be watching this closely and will update you if the river forecast changes.
