2 hate crimes on Tuesday evening in Crown Heights

Crown Heights Shmira and the NYPD are investigating two separate cases of violent hate crimes that occurred Tuesday night in Crown Heights.

The first incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. near Lefferts Ave and Albany Ave when the suspect approached the victim for no reason and punched him in the face while yelling “Free Palestine” and other anti-Semitic slurs. He was injured and had to be treated for his injuries. The suspect was described as a black male wearing a black hoodie with red stripes and shorts.

The second incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. near Troy Ave and East NY Ave. A Jewish woman was also approached for no reason while walking home by two suspects who hurled insults at her such as “we don’t like you Jews” and then threw a construction cone to hit her. One of the suspects appeared to be in his twenties, while the second is in his fifties, is bald and wears a back brace.

Crown Heights Shmira responded to the incidents and searched for the suspects in both cases. The NYPD is currently investigating them as hate crimes.
