Arson suspect from “The Squealing Pig” faces trial – NBC Boston

The man arrested in connection with a fire at a popular bar in Boston’s Roxbury neighborhood is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

The Squealing Pig went up in flames last week and police this weekend arrested 23-year-old Prasiddha Baruwal, who they believe deliberately set fire to the store.

A video taken last Wednesday shows a person inside The Squealing Pig whose windows were smashed as flames erupted.

Fire investigators believe Baruwal, of Everett, was inside the car, but how and why he was involved is unclear.

According to the authorities, the company is a total loss.

During the investigation into a devastating fire at the “Squealing Pig,” a restaurant and bar in Boston’s Mission Hill neighborhood, arson was not ruled out.

Although firefighters managed to extinguish the flames within 15 minutes, they had already devastated everything inside, causing such an inferno that a nearby light pole and a street sign melted.

And the customers who went there were often really frustrated that someone was doing this on purpose.

“It’s pretty crazy. I’ve been there a couple of times. It’s a really beautiful place. Yeah, it’s pretty crazy to think that someone would do something like that on purpose,” said Joe Abell, a student at Northeastern University.

Baruwal is charged with arson of a commercial building, burglary with intent to commit a crime and malicious damage to property.

Former employees and witnesses have been questioned, but Baruwal is the only suspect in custody.

He is due to appear before a judge in Roxbury District Court at 9 a.m. on Monday.
