Newark police tighten measures after suspects rob multiple victims

We’ve learned that in response to a series of armed robberies overnight and early morning hours, Newark Police have activated a citywide robbery protocol and increased enforcement efforts, particularly in the city’s South Ward and Downtown districts.

While Newark authorities have not released specific details, our Metro Morning Crew believes police are currently searching for a dark-colored SUV or possibly a Jeep, believed to contain five to six male suspects.

These individuals, reportedly wearing ski masks, targeted people on their way to or from work and committed violent robberies.

Although it remains unclear whether the suspects are carrying weapons, no serious injuries have been reported so far.

The population is asked to exercise increased caution, especially at bus stops or on the way to work in the early morning and late evening hours.

The suspects are still at large and police advise the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
