Atlanta Belt Line | Start of work on the North-East trail

Construction is expected to be completed before major events.

ATLANTA — City officials held a ceremony to celebrate the start of construction on the Atlanta BeltLine’s northeast trail.

The trail begins at the intersection of Marietta Boulevard and Huff Road and will connect with the Westside Trail.

According to Clyde Higgs, president and CEO, the construction work will not impact large events the city hosts and is expected to last 14 months.

“We’re going to have over 17 miles of BeltLine trail completed by the first quarter of 2026, well before the FIFA World Cup,” Higgs noted.

The entire Northwest Trail will stretch 4.3 miles through twelve neighborhoods, including Loring Heights, Peachtree Hills, and Lindbergh/Morosgo.

Additionally, according to Atlanta officials, “the expansion will also provide a focus on the city’s economic development and affordable housing.”
