British woman raped on Paris street “by several men at music festival”

A young British woman was gang raped during an annual street music festival in central Paris, French police said.

Investigators believe the attack may have been filmed – a parallel to similar attacks at the same event.

According to a police source, the woman was found crying as she walked through Paris’ 1st arrondissement in the early hours of Saturday.

The British victim had left a concert – one of hundreds of events taking place across France on June 21 to mark the “Fête de la Musique” – known in English as “Make Music Day” – before she was attacked and robbed.

She told police that a group of men approached her and took her to a remote area, Le Figaro reports.

The Briton was picked up by police and fire brigade and taken to Cochin hospital.

According to official information, the woman will remain in the hospital after treatment.

“The attack took place in the early hours of Saturday morning around the Forum Châtelet-Les Halles,” said an investigative source.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

“She was returning from a concert at the Olympia music venue and said she was approached by a group of men.

“They surrounded them and attacked them. There are fears that they recorded their actions on their mobile phones.”

A similar attack occurred at the Fête de la Musique in 2021, when a woman was surrounded in a street near the Champs Élysées.

The following day, a video appeared on the Internet that served as evidence to track down the rapists.

The attackers were never found and the case is still active.

Five teenagers were injected with an unknown substance while attending another Make Music Day event.

The girls, aged between 13 and 17, said they were dancing at an event in the Paris suburb of Saint-Maur-des-Fossés when they felt stabbing pains in their arms.

Police have not arrested anyone in connection with the attack.
