School license revoked due to violation of the association’s statutes

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Saturday said that Shikhara School in Bowrampet, Dundigal, had violated its affiliation charter and hence the affiliation of the school was suspended.

A CBSE statement said, “The school had applied for admission up to secondary level. At the time of inspection, the school provided information only about the number of students studying up to class eight. However, the school did not disclose in the application that it has promoted students of class eight to classes ninth and tenth.”

The school was granted accreditation up to secondary level on 25 June 2023, with the express condition that it would begin Grade 9 from the school year beginning in April 2023 and that such students, provided they pass the Grade 9 examination, would be promoted to Grade 10 from the school year beginning in April 2024.

“Since the school has violated the provisions of the affiliation bylaws, the affiliation of Shikhara School is suspended for one year. The school is directed not to admit any Class 9 students for one year in the academic session beginning April 2024. However, students enrolling for Class 9 in 2023 will be eligible to appear in the final examinations to be held in February-March 2025. The penalty imposed on the school will be made known to the public,” said Shekhar Chandra, Regional Officer, CBSE.
