Indianapolis police are investigating the incident between Pat Bev and a fan

NEW YORK – The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the incident between Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley and a fan at Gainbridge Fieldhouse near the end of Game 6 of the first round of the NBA Eastern Conference playoffs, according to a statement from IMPD -Public Affairs Office.

“IMPD is aware of an incident that occurred at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday, May 2, 2024, involving an NBA player and a citizen,” an IMPD spokesperson said. “At the time of the incident, officers were preparing an initial case report. The report has been forwarded to IMPD detectives who are currently investigating this situation and are taking all allegations seriously.”

“Investigators are working with Gainbridge Fieldhouse to review video footage and plan to speak with the parties involved. Investigators will present the case to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office upon completion of the investigation.”

During the game, which the Pacers won 120-98 and advanced to the Eastern Conference semifinals, a fan apparently harassed the players on the Bucks’ bench. Television cameras filmed Beverley throwing a basketball at the fan, missing and hitting a woman in the side of the head. The other fan in question got the ball and threw it back to Beverley, who then whipped it back to the fan.
