Officers with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on Monday following a resisting arrest incident.

A DCSO report states that at 2:10 p.m., a deputy saw 36-year-old Vincent Rios of Riddle running in the 2500 block of Canyonville-Riddle Road and knew Rios had a felony warrant out for his arrest. The deputy attempted to make contact with Rios, but the suspect allegedly ran off when the deputy got out of his patrol car.

A foot chase ensued toward Evergreen Ridge Road until the deputy lost him in thick brush. Witnesses reported seeing Vincent running on Evergreen Ridge Road, likely toward his residence. Units searched a large store near his last known location in the 200 block of Evergreen Ridge Road and found Rios hiding on a raised platform behind a tarp. Rios eventually came down and was eventually handcuffed and placed in the back of a patrol car.

Rios was charged with third-degree escape, resisting arrest and probation violation. He was held on $5,000 bail.
