Hazardous materials incident reported near Highway 367 in Arkansas

WHITE COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Arkansas – According to the White County Sheriff’s Office, a hazardous materials accident occurred Monday at the Union Pacific Railroad.

The incident occurred near Highway 367 and authorities asked the public to avoid the area between McRae and the intersection of Bowman Road and Highway 367.

Authorities said the train passed through the city and “emitted toxic gases,” prompting the evacuation of people within a one-mile radius of the train stopped near McRae.

Although the train stops in McRae, authorities say gas continues to leak.

The sheriff’s office said evacuations have already begun in the area and that several groups are on site to assist with the incident, including Union Pacific, Beebe Fire and the White County Sheriff’s Office.

There is no further information on the incident, but we will update this article as more information becomes available.
