VSP identifies woman killed after chase in head-on collision in Wise Co. | WJHL

WISE COUNTY, Va. (WJHL) – Police have identified a woman who died in a head-on collision following a chase in Wise County on Wednesday.

A joint press release from the Wise County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office said the pursuit began when officers in Pound noticed the silver Audi Q3, which is linked to a suspected theft and subsequent chase in Hazard, Kentucky.


According to the Virginia State Police (VSP), the Audi was traveling south of Route 23 when it crossed into the northbound lanes shortly before 9 a.m. and collided head-on with a Chevrolet Trax.

The driver of the Audi, identified by police as Dimitri J. Green, 27, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and a passenger were flown to Johnson City Medical Center (JCMC) for treatment of serious injuries.

The third passenger in the Audi was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the Chevrolet was seriously injured in the accident, VSP reported. He was also taken to the JCMC due to his injuries.

The passenger of the Chevrolet, identified by VSP as Amy M. Lockwood, 45, of Wise, succumbed to her injuries at a nearby hospital.

Green was charged with first-degree murder, VSP said.
