Roswell man convicted of sexual exploitation of minors

ALBUQUERQUE – A Roswell man who used the messaging app Snapchat to abuse and ultimately sexually exploit two young girls has been sentenced to 235 months in prison after pleading guilty in federal court to engaging in sexual conduct with minors.

There is no parole in the federal system.

According to court documents, Juan Rodriguez, 40, engaged in sexual activity with Jane Doe 1, a 12-year-old minor girl, three times between September 2022 and November 18, 2022. Prior to engaging in sexual activity with the girl, Rodriguez had communicated with her via Snapchat.

In the summer of 2021, Rodriguez engaged in sexual acts with Jane Doe 2, an 11-year-old minor with whom he had previously communicated via Snapchat.

In his plea agreement, Rodriguez admitted that he knew the girls were underage when he began communicating with them.

After serving his prison sentence, Rodriguez must serve ten years of probation and register as a sex offender.
