Hochul urges New Yorkers to “follow the weather report closely”

Governor Kathy Hochul issued a thunderstorm warning on Friday and also predicted that extreme heat and high humidity were in the forecast for the coming week.

“New Yorkers should take every precaution possible to stay cool and safe over the next week as the combination of severe storms, heat and humidity poses a significant health risk to vulnerable New Yorkers,” Hochul said in a statement. “My administration will closely monitor the impact of the weather and we encourage New Yorkers to closely monitor the forecast, stay hydrated and have a plan in case you need to cool down during this time.”
