Silver Alert issued for 68-year-old woman from Fayette County

MEADOW BRIDGE, WV (WVNS) — A Silver Alert has been issued for a woman reported missing in Fayette County.

According to members of the West Virginia State Police Oak Hill Detachment, 68-year-old Ruth Ann Sears was reported missing on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from the Meadow Bridge area of ​​Fayette County.


Sears, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, reportedly left the area in her dark blue 2015 Subaru Outback, license plate WV0TY534, and headed toward Summersville in Nicholas County. 59News is awaiting an updated photo of Sears.

Due to her medical condition, Sears would not have been allowed to use the car and would not have been able to return home without assistance.

Sears reportedly did not make it to Summersville, and according to the Oak Hill Detachment of the West Virginia State Police, her current whereabouts are unknown. According to Sears’ family, she may be wearing tan pants and a floral top. She has long dark brown hair with natural gray highlights, possibly pulled up in a ponytail or bun.

Several police officers in Fayette and Nicholas counties are currently attempting to locate Sears. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Ruth Ann Sears should contact police immediately.
