Attack on homeless camp in Tracy leaves one person injured and one person arrested

CHP officers said they were called to a homeless encampment along Interstate 205 around 4:30 p.m. because a 45-year-old homeless man had been attacked.

TRACY, Calif. – A man was arrested after allegedly attacking, stabbing and robbing another man at a homeless encampment in Tracy on Monday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP officials said they were called to a homeless encampment off Interstate 205 around 4:30 p.m. because a 45-year-old homeless man had been attacked. His condition is unknown.

After investigating, CHP officers identified 37-year-old Anthony Joaquin Blancarte, a local homeless man, as a suspect and arrested him on Thursday.

He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of robbery and attempted murder, officials say.
