LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – Six people have been arrested following a series of car thefts in the metro.

Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) said Dmontray Ford, Chrisaune Lambirth, Desmond Carney, Deonte Bass and Truth Martin were linked to a series of car thefts that caused “great distress” in the community. A juvenile was also arrested.

“The impact of auto theft goes far beyond the loss of property – it affects our sense of safety and can even be linked to more serious violent crimes,” the department said in a post on Facebook. “We are grateful for the dedication of our LMPD officers and detectives who bring these alleged suspects to justice and help make our community a safer place for everyone.”

According to LMPD, officers seized stolen vehicles and several stolen firearms.

The charges against the six defendants are: multiple counts of receiving stolen goods, first-degree evading police, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, receiving stolen goods (firearm), reckless driving, driving without a license and tampering with evidence.

LMPD’s Criminal Interdiction Division, K-9, SWAT, Air Unit, officers from all 8 patrol divisions, technical operations, KSP Air Unit, Middletown Police Department, and Oldham, Spencer and Bullitt County law enforcement agencies worked together to make these arrests.
