Man dies in house explosion near Lake Zurich

The body of a man was recovered from the rubble of a house near Lake Zurich that was razed to the ground by an explosion late Monday evening.

Authorities have recovered the body of a man after a house exploded near Lake Zurich on Tuesday evening.

After multiple reports of the explosion, emergency crews were called to the 23500 block of North Overhill Road around 8:30 p.m.

Authorities were unable to identify the 77-year-old man who lived in the house. Later in the investigation, the body of an adult man was recovered from the rubble. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed later today to enable positive identification.

The house was razed to the ground by the explosion, authorities said.

No further injuries were reported.

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
