LINCOLN, Nebraska (KLKN) – A traffic violation led to the arrest of a wanted Florida man in northeastern Nebraska on Monday, the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office said.

At about 8:10 a.m., an officer stopped a speeding vehicle driven by 44-year-old Dillard McCoy Cook of Florida on Highway 275 near Stanton.

The deputy learned that there was an outstanding warrant for Cook’s arrest in Rock County, Illinois, for failure to appear, the sheriff’s office said.

He was taken into custody and booked into the Stanton County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said Cook would waive extradition to Illinois and would remain in custody until his arrest.
