Woman arrested after knife attack on mother and son in North Olmsted

A 32-year-old Cleveland woman is behind bars facing charges that she stabbed a customer and her 3-year-old son to death on June 3 at the Giant Eagle, 27264 Lorain Road in North Olmsted, according to a news release from North Olmsted police.

At 3:03 p.m., North Olmsted police officers responded to several 911 calls about a possible stabbing in the grocery store parking lot, the news release said.

When officers arrived on scene, they received a description of a suspect and the location of two victims, the press release said.

Several officers were able to arrest the suspect while other officers on site began providing first aid to the victims, the press release said.

The condition of the victims was unknown on the afternoon of June 3, the press release said.

The case remains under investigation, the press release said.

North Olmsted Mayor Nicole Dailey Jones issued a statement following the stabbing.

“I am deeply saddened by the incident this afternoon in the parking lot of the North Olmsted Giant Eagle Supermarket,” Dailey Jones said of the stabbing.

“Mother and child were immediately transported to University Hospitals St. John Medical Center in Westlake, where they are currently being treated. Our sincere condolences go out to the two victims of this seemingly random act of violence.

“Once again, our security forces in North Olmsted responded quickly and handled the situation with tremendous professionalism.”
