Man shot dead in Opa-locka; reward offered for information

OPA LOCKA, Florida. – Opa-Locka police are searching for the gunman who killed a man early Monday morning.

According to police, the shooting was reported around 12:50 a.m. from the Mary Alice Brown apartment complex in the 2800 block of Northwest 132nd Street.

Police said officers arrived at the scene and found a man shot.

He was later identified as Keon Bernard Smith.

According to police, Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by the Miami-Dade Fire Department.

The Miami-Dade Police Department’s Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation into the murder.

Further details were not initially announced.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest.
