Chiefs suspend Marcus Peters in game against Raiders for unsportsmanlike conduct

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid has announced that cornerback Marcus Peters is suspended for Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders.

During the Chiefs’ 31-38 loss to the New York Jets in Week 13, Peters threw a referee’s penalty flag into the stands at MetLife Stadium with just over two minutes left in the game and was subsequently escorted to the locker room.

Chiefs cornerback Steven Nelson was flagged for defensive holding while the Jets were attempting a two-point conversion after a touchdown. Peters, apparently unhappy with the decision, grabbed the penalty flag from the ground and threw it into the stands.

Peters was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct and eventually returned to the sidelines after an assistant was sent to the locker room to pick him up.
