Abhishek Kumar tells how an incident on the casting couch made him suicidal: ‘I met a gay man, he tried to do something inappropriate with me’ | TV news

Actor Abhishek Kumar became a star after his time at Big Boss 17 – The Wonderful World of Monsters. While the Udaariyaan actor emerged as the first runner-up in the show, he recently made headlines for his participation in Khatron Ke Khiladi 14. Currently, Abhishek is shooting in Romania for the stunt reality show hosted by Rohit Shetty. But before the show, Abhishek spoke to Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limabachiyaa on their podcast, where he not only shared his ordeal but also recounted an incident on the casting couch that made him suicidal.

In Bharti Singh’s podcast, Abhishek shared that he came to Mumbai in 2018. While he was pursuing his graduation in mechanical engineering in Delhi, Abhishek sneaked to Mumbai without telling his parents. When he reached the city, the actor struggled to survive and was rejected. He also recalled spending just Rs 70 on food and walking to his auditions. Recalling his journey from being a spectator in films to landing the lead role in the show, Abhishek also shared that he was on the casting couch.

He said, “I lied and came here. When I came to Mumbai, I met a gay man who tried to do something inappropriate with me and I ran away from there. I returned home the same day on a normal ticket, that was after two and a half months. I told my parents about it later.”

He continued, “I had an audition, it was bad. I failed at least ten times and I was still selected. So I wondered how that happened. Then I thought maybe it was because of my looks, but it was all an act. I was in such a situation that I would have committed suicide because who could I tell? I was afraid of being judged, so I told my mother. She started crying and asked me to come back immediately.”

Sharing some other anecdotes from his time, Abhishek also recalled how in 12th grade he told his father about his desire to become an actor. However, he was beaten for it. “I cried then when I told my father that one day the world will know you by my name,” Abhishek Kumar added.

Abhishek also participated in the Mr. Punjab contest and when he entered the second round, both his mobile phones were stolen. He recalled that he was again beaten up by his father. He later laughed about how his relationship with his father had changed for the better.
