Alert for missing vulnerable adults in New York State

A missing endangered adult alert has been issued in New York State in connection with the disappearance of a 29-year-old man from Syracuse.

At the request of the Syracuse City Police Department, this report was issued for Antonio Horn of Syracuse. According to police, Horn was born in April 1995. He is 5’8″ tall, weighs 185 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes.

“Horn was last seen on Saturday, May 25, at approximately 8:30 p.m. leaving his residence in the 700 block of Court Street. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, a yellow ‘Mario’ shirt underneath, red shorts, and a black backpack.”

According to Syracuse Police, Horn has autism and speech impairments and may require medical attention. CNY Central reports that he was last seen on Saturday, May 25th, at 8:30 p.m. on Court Street in the City of Syracuse, Onondaga County. Antonio was last seen wearing a black hoodie over a yellow Mario Brothers shirt, red shorts, and a black backpack. He is believed to be traveling in the area on foot.

What types of missing person reports are there?

There are several types of missing person reports, including the following:

Amber Alert– This alert is used in the most serious child abductions and is broadcast via radio, television, traffic signs, cell phones and other data-enabled devices. AMBER stands for America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created in 1996 in honor of Amber Hagerman, who was abducted and murdered in 1996.

Silver alarm– This alarm is used for seniors who are missing or in danger. Silver alerts are broadcast on commercial radio stations, television stations, cable television and variable message signs on roads.

Ashanti Alarm– This alert is used for missing adults who are too old for an Amber Alert and too young for a Silver Alert.

Blue Alert– This alert can be used to locate people suspected of killing or seriously injuring a police officer.

Missing/endangered person report– This alert is a notification to the media and the public containing information regarding a missing person, abductor and/or suspect.
