Atlanta Braves News: AJ Minter on IL, Acuña Jr. ready for surgery, more

The Atlanta Braves suffered another blow on the injury front and placed left-hander AJ Minter on the 15-day injured list. The reliever suffers from inflammation in his left hip.

Minter’s last outing came Wednesday night against the Washington Nationals, where he pitched a scoreless game. Compared to last season, he was not as effective but still produced promising results. His absence will be greatly felt, however, as Atlanta now finds itself with two lefties in the bullpen.

Right-hander Jimmy Herget was recalled to Atlanta. It’s been a season full of transactions for Herget, who was recently optioned to Gwinnett on Wednesday. Now he returns to replace the injured Minter.

In the latest wave of roster moves, the Braves announced that infielder Joey Wendle was elected free agent after being outrighted.
