NYC man charged with hate crime, attack on women on the street

The Manhattan district attorney’s office on Tuesday accused a man of attacking several women on the streets of New York City in recent months.

Skiboky Stora, 40, of Brooklyn, was charged with assault, stalking and aggravated harassment as hate crimes in a series of “misogynistic, anti-white and anti-Semitic incidents,” District Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement.

“Stora is alleged to have committed a series of hate-motivated incidents against several people based on their gender, race and religion,” said Bragg. “Above all, our city is characterized by respect and acceptance of all people. No one should have to fear for their safety because of their identity.”

Bragg’s office described several incidents in which Stora is alleged to be involved. On Sept. 20, Stora elbowed a 17-year-old white boy in the neck and said, “You people think you can do whatever you want,” according to Tuesday’s statement. In October, he elbowed a 37-year-old woman.

Another incident involved a white Jewish couple, both 28, walking their dog in Union Square on Nov. 18. The couple saw Stora tearing down photos of kidnapped Israeli hostages, and the woman took a photo of him. Stora noticed them and followed them while shouting, “Fuck you, white boy” and “Die, Jews, die!” prosecutors said.

This year, several women reported similar attacks on the streets of New York on TikTok, including reality star Bethenny Frankel.

In a video that went viral in March, a TikToker named Halley Kate claimed that a man hit her while she was walking her dog, causing swelling on her forehead.

“Guys, I was just walking and a man came up to me and punched me in the face,” Kate says in the March 25 video, showing her bruised forehead. “Oh my God, it hurts so much I can’t even speak. I literally fell to the ground and now there’s this huge bump forming.”

The fourth incident described in the district attorney’s statement Tuesday involves a March 25 incident in which Stora allegedly struck a 23-year-old white woman, causing her “pain and swelling on the left side of her head.”

On March 27, the New York Police Department said it had arrested someone in connection with TikTok, but did not name Stora. The NYPD said this person had been arrested three times in the past six months.

According to the Associated Press, Stora has previously been charged with assault but has pleaded not guilty to those counts. His next court date is Aug. 6 and he is currently representing himself. He said authorities had “no probable cause” to arrest him, local affiliate Fox 5 reported.
