No more heat warnings, but attention now turns to threat of flooding and severe weather in Houston

Today’s forecast:

Our weather conditions are changing today. Temperatures drop to 92° this afternoon with a heat index of 104°. No heat alert is in effect. Instead, we are monitoring a threat of flooding and severe weather this afternoon and overnight. Damaging winds, hail, and a tornado or two are possible with these storms.

Hourly:

Like our past stormy weather conditions, the timing may vary. The reason is the storm system in North Texas. If these storms create flow toward Southeast Texas, we will have strong thunderstorms early this afternoon. If there is no evacuation, we won’t have any storms until tonight and possibly tomorrow morning.

Why is it so blurry?

We haven’t seen a blue sky since Sunday? 168 active fires in Mexico and Central America are burning a quarter of a million acres of land. Smoke from these fires moved into southeast Texas, making air quality poor. Storms today and tonight will clear the smoke and bring better air quality for the remainder of the week.

10-day forecast and heat index:

There is some relief from the heat in the forecast. It is replaced by thunderstorms but no excessive heat in the 10-day forecast.
