Kristin Cavallari recalls the ‘Psycho’ stalker incident – slashed tires, a restraining order and more

On Tuesday’s episode of Cavallaris Let’s be honest PodcastCavallari said it all went down in 2015, when a man now identified as David Berkowitz — no, not the “Son of Sam” serial killer — began following her after learning where she worked.

Cavallari claimed that Berkowitz signed up for classes with the same instructor after accidentally revealing which gym she went to in an interview. The Laguna beach Alum said Berkowitz reportedly lived 45 minutes from that particular gym but only drove there to be near her.

“This guy asks a lot of questions about you. “He wanted to know if he could pay you to go to a party,” Cavallari remembers her coach telling her at the time.

Cavallari said she saw Berkowitz “walking around” at the gym one day while he was wearing a suit. So she tried to avoid him by going to the toilet to kill time and even left the gym via an alternative exit.

“He’s standing at the entrance with his phone and I’m like, ‘Damn,'” Cavallari told co-host Justin Anderson.

Things got even scarier when she made her way to her vehicle. Cavallari claimed that once she was in her car, she noticed Berkowitz getting in right next to her.

He then allegedly followed her to a traffic light and asked her to “roll down her window.”

“He says, ‘You have a flat tire,’ and I say, ‘What?'” Cavallari said. “Then my flat tire thing continued, so he knew I had a flat tire before my car knew I had a flat tire.”

She said she then drove to a bank parking lot to repair her apartment when she noticed Berkowitz allegedly circling the area.

Cavallari, who was 26 at the time and living in Chicago with her then-husband, Jay CutlerHe then called the former football star for help.

“I called my ex-husband, who called a private investigator who worked for the Bears. It was like a whole thing,” she explained.

According to Cavallari, Berkowitz “eventually admitted” to giving her a flat tire. The incident was so shocking that Uncommon James’ founder filed a restraining order against him, something he said he “begged” them not to do.

“He was married with kids and was begging not to get a restraining order,” she said. “I was like, ‘No, fuck you. You chased me around my gym and gave me a flat tire, for what? Save the day?’”

Cavallari called the obsessed fan a “psycho f–k” and ended the story with a warning to her listeners: “People are crazy, man. You have to be careful.”

Per NBCChicagoCavallari was granted a protective order against Berkowitz in the weeks following the incident, which was later extended for another two years.

The order required Berkowitz to stay away from Cavallari and her family, which at the time included her two young sons, Camden and Jaxon. He was also ordered to stay at least 150 yards away from the two training facilities where she and Cutler trained.
