Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets Odds, Picks and Predictions

THE Atlanta Braves (24-12) face the New York Mets (18-20) Sunday in the finale of a 3-game set at Citi Field on Sunday Night Baseball at 7 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze the BetMGM Sportsbook lines around the Braves vs. Mets odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Braves lead 3-2

The Braves won the first 2 games of the series by 4-2 and 4-1 in the final and enter Sunday on a 4-game winning streak. Saturday was almost a special day as the team combined for a no-hitter in the 9th inning. That 27th out proved elusive, however, as Mets DH J.D. Martinez I ruined that with a circuit before the no-no.

The Mets have lost 6 of their last 9 games and are just 9-12 at home. They have allowed 3 or more runs in 8 straight games, but still own the 4th best ERA (3.74) in the NL – and 11th in the MLB. The offense is where the problem lies as it ranks 8th in the NL and 16th in MLB at 4.3 runs per game. 1B Pete Alonso starting to heat up a bit, hitting .308 with a homer, 2 doubles and 4 RBIs in his last 4 games.

Braves at Mets Picks and Predictions

Prediction

Mets 5, Braves 4

Money line

It seems that when a team goes unhit or narrowly escapes, their bats come out blazing in the next game. While I don’t really expect the Mets wood to be incinerated, I think they’re avoiding the sweep. If Severino can avoid stepping on the field like he did in his last start, he’ll keep the Braves at bay.

Take MET (-110).

Running Line/Against the Spread

The books have really handicapped that. They aren’t giving much extra money on the Mets ML and have increased their RL to make insurance negligible.

PASS.

More less

It should be 53 degrees with a gust of 6 mph. We’ve had 2 cash unders in this series, including Saturday’s game which was 1 out from a hit.

Look for the Mets to take advantage of a starter who has allowed 9 earned runs in his last 2 starts. The Braves are still dangerous at the plate, ranking 4th in the NL and 5th in MLB in scoring at 5.0 runs per game.

Take MORE THAN 8 (+100).
