Revanna harassment case: Woman recounts horror of Prajwal Revanna

A woman has made allegations against suspended JS(S) leader and Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and his father HD Revanna, implicating him in the crime sexual assault and harassment.

The victim, whose identity remains protected, alleged that Prajwal Revanna raped her mother at his residence in Bengaluru four to five years ago. According to sources in the Special Investigation Team (SIT), the victim’s daughter has given detailed statements about the incidents.

The woman also alleged that Prajwal Revanna manipulated her into answering video calls and forced her to remove her clothes under threat of harm to her and her mother.

“He (Prajwal) used to call me and ask me to take off my clothes. He called my mother’s cell phone and forced me to answer the video calls. When I refused, he threatened to harm me and my mother. Our family supported us. “When they came to know about the incidents, we lodged a complaint,” she said.

“My mother was raped and sexually molested by HD Revanna and Prajwal Revanna. Prajwal also sexually abused me,” the woman alleged.

“Prajwal always threatened my mother that if she did not cooperate, he would take away her husband’s job, make him unemployed and even rape their daughter,” the woman said, adding that her father was fired from his job after she had filed a complaint regarding this matter.

She also said that the ongoing harassment, take place between 2020 and 2021It took a heavy toll on her family and forced them to change their phone numbers.

The woman also alleged that the Hassan MP would sexually harass the female servants at his home.

“Yes, it is true that Revanna sexually harassed the female servants on the pretext of giving them fruits while Prajwal raped my mother. So far, only three people have spoken publicly about these incidents. Three other servants…” “They didn’t talk about these atrocities,” the woman claimed.

The woman also claimed that she was forced to sell her land two years after the incident. “She (my mother) came home only once in four to five months. She was harassed so much that she only called us late at night, around 1 or 2 in the morning. She hardly spoke to us. They treated.” “My mother was a slave and attacked my father,” the woman claimed.

She also termed Prajwal Revanna and HD Revanna as “habitual offenders” and demanded justice for her mother and herself.

It is the 33-year-old JD(S) MP and his father is accused of sexually abusing women. The scandal triggered a political storm as the ruling Congress and the BJP-JD(S) traded blows.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Police Special Investigation Team (SIT) has set up a helpline number where survivors can come forward and lodge complaints. So far three FIRs have been registered in this matter, including two cases of rape and one of kidnapping.

HD Revanna was sent to judicial custody until May 14th and his bail hearing continues on Monday in the Public Representative Court. A blue corner notice was sent against Prajwal Revanna, who is said to have flown abroad on April 27, a day after the first phase of Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka.
