Tributes are pouring in for the Euclid, Ohio, police officer killed in the line of duty

EUCLID, Ohio (WJW) – Police departments from across Northeast Ohio and beyond are releasing tributes to Euclid Police Officer Jacob Derbin, who was shot and killed in what authorities described as an “ambush” as Derbin responded to a call Saturday night.

The Parma Police Department posted on its Facebook page: “It is with heavy hearts that we extend our deepest condolences to our brothers and sisters in the Euclid Police Department who lost one of their brothers and sisters last night. “Our thoughts and prayers are during this difficult time time with you. Regrettably, this comes as today marks the start of Police Memorial Week, dedicated to honoring fallen police officers.”

Mentor Police wrote, “Our hearts are heavy as we stand with the Euclid Police Department during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you following the tragic loss of your officer. Stay strong, Euclid PD. We are here for you.”
