Man arrested for domestic violence and kidnapping

SOUTHBURY, Conn. (WTNH) — A domestic violence incident that led to a kidnapping has led to the arrest of a man in Southbury, according to police.

On Friday, Southbury Emergency Dispatch dispatched officers to the area of ​​Elaine Dr. and Curt Smith Rd. after receiving reports of an active domestic violence incident.

According to police, a resident in the area reported seeing a man dragging a woman through the woods before roughly pushing her into a vehicle and speeding away.

Officers from Southbury and Oxford began searching the area for the vehicle but were unsuccessful and called state police for assistance.

Local officials provided state police with details about the suspect’s identity and vehicle description. The suspect was identified as Brian Lambert.

State police were able to locate him by tracking his cell phone in the area of ​​Quaker Farm and Punkup Roads. Lambert’s vehicle was eventually spotted south of Southford Falls State Park as law enforcement officers conducted a traffic stop.

Authorities located Lambert and the victim in the vehicle. Lambert was taken into custody without complications and the victim received medical treatment.

Lambert’s charges include:

• Third degree kidnapping
• Second-degree unlawful restraint
• Third degree assault
• Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree
• Threatening in the second degree
• Disorderly behavior.

His bond has been set at $5,000,000 and he is due in Waterbury Superior Court this Monday.
