2 CT Police Dogs Honored for Service in Washington DC

WASHINGTON (WTNH) – The National Police Dog Foundation gathered in Washington DC Saturday morning to honor the police K9s who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their colleagues.

Heroic dogs honored at Saturday’s ceremony included Connecticut State Police K9 Broko and Montville Police K9 Barrett.

The eulogy said: “The bond between a K9 and an officer is a remarkable relationship based on trust, respect and a shared sense of purpose. It goes beyond a typical human-animal connection.”

The National Police Dog Foundation established the K9 Memorial Fund in 2018 to assist law enforcement agencies in purchasing, training and replacing dogs lost in the line of duty.

The foundation is currently looking for donors. Resources for support can be found here.
