One dead, roads closed after crash in Cayuga County

One person was killed in a multi-vehicle accident in the town of Aurelius on Friday afternoon.

Cayuga County 911 dispatchers told The Citizen that a call reported a crash involving a tractor-trailer and three other vehicles on Clark Street Road (Routes 5 and 20), east of Route 90, at 1:37 p.m

One person died in the crash and another person was taken by Cayuga Fire Department EMS to Auburn Community Hospital with minor injuries, dispatchers said.

Clark Street Road was closed from Route 90 to Turnpike Road until about 6:53 p.m., said Ian Herford, first assistant chief of the Aurelius Volunteer Fire Department.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Throop and Montezuma fire departments, and Auburn, Throop and Jordan ambulances also responded to the scene.
