Ministry of Health: Sixteen dead in traffic accident in southern Sinai

CAIRO (Reuters) – Sixteen people were killed and 18 injured in an accident involving a bus and a minibus on the road between Egypt’s Suez Canal and El-Tor, the Egyptian Health Ministry said on Saturday.

Thirteen ambulances rushed to the scene and took the injured to hospitals in Tor Sinai and Sharm El-Sheikh, the statement said.

“The injuries ranged from broken bones, abrasions, cuts to a suspected concussion. All injured people were treated and received the necessary medical care,” the statement continued.

Reckless driving and poor road conditions are responsible for many accidents in Egypt. A series of rail and road accidents have recently killed dozens of people.
