3 displaced, 1 cat dead after house fire in Radford

RADFORD, Va. (WFXR) — A cat has died and three others were taken to the hospital after a fire broke out at a home early Friday morning, according to the Radford City Fire and EMS Department.

Shortly after 4 a.m. on May 10, Radford firefighters were called to the 700 block of Walker Street for a house fire. On site, emergency services discovered flames and smoke coming from the house.


The fire department learned that all occupants had safely escaped the fire.

While crews battled the fire, firefighters rescued three cats and treated them for smoke inhalation. They were taken to the city and county veterinary clinic for emergency care.

However, one cat was found dead.

The department said three people and several dogs and cats were displaced.

The cause of the fire was not disclosed and there were no reported injuries.
