Kogi PDP suspends district congress indefinitely as thugs steal sensitive election materials

The Transitional Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State led by Senator Danjuma Laah has postponed the state party convention scheduled for Saturday.

The interim committee said the decision to suspend the district congress became necessary when gangsters and unidentified thugs entered the state secretariat and stole sensitive election materials.

A statement by Chief Dayo Akande, spokesman of the Transitional Committee, said this project was done in collaboration with the Chairman of the Congressional Committee, Honourable Boyelayefa Debeleme.

According to the statement, the fraudsters arrived in an 18-seater bus and other vehicles and did not show any identification documents.

“All this was done in the presence of the INEC observer. These unauthorized persons disappeared with all confidential materials meant for the Congress in the 239 wards of the 21 LGA areas of the state,” the statement said.

The Transitional Committee strongly condemned this act and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other institutions to ignore all alleged results of this illegal action.
