Explosion at tequila factory in Jose Cuervo, Mexico, leaves five dead

An explosion at a tequila factory in Mexico killed at least five people and led to evacuations.

At least five people were killed after a 500,000-litre tank exploded at Jose Cuervo’s Rojeña factory in Tequila, Mexico, on Tuesday, emergency services and fire chief Victor Hugo Roldan told Reuters.

Two other people were also seriously injured, CBS News reported.

The explosion caused fires in three other tanks and two tanks collapsed, according to a statement released on Tuesday.

The cause of the explosion remains unknown.
