Teenager claims two men attacked him with a shovel in northern Vermont

Newport police are searching for a man accused of attacking a 17-year-old with a shovel during a botched motorcycle sale. Newport police responded to Elm Street around 10 a.m. Tuesday for a man brandishing a gun while screaming. When officers arrived, no one was outside the home, according to them, so they told residents to come outside. Police searched the home and found the 17-year-old bleeding from an injury to his hand. Officers say the 17-year-old was selling a motorcycle and the two men who allegedly bought it attacked him with a shovel in the garage. The 17-year-old screamed for help and police say a resident of the home chased the suspects out with a gun. Police believe the teen was injured while protecting himself from being hit with the shovel. He was treated at the scene for an injury to his hand. The suspect has been identified as 40-year-old Jason Willey. Police believe Willey is approximately 6’1″ tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. Newport police responded to Elm Street around 10 a.m. Tuesday for a report of a man screaming and waving a gun.

When officers arrived, they said there was no one outside the house, so they asked the residents to come outside.

The police searched the house and found the 17-year-old with a bleeding injury on his hand.

According to officials, the 17-year-old wanted to sell a motorcycle and the two men who allegedly bought it attacked him in the garage with a shovel.

The 17-year-old screamed for help and, according to police, a resident of the house chased the suspects away with a gun.

Police believe the teenager was injured while trying to protect himself from the blows of the shovel. He was treated at the scene for an injury to his hand.

The suspect has been identified as 40-year-old Jason Willey. Police believe Willey is approximately 6’1″ tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds.
