One dead after fire in Buffalo Grove

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. — An investigation is underway after a deadly fire in a northwest suburb Monday morning.

The deadly fire broke out in a home in the 630 block of Woodhollow Lane, according to a Buffalo Grove village spokesperson.

Buffalo Grove Fire Department crews responded to the scene just after 10:22 a.m. and found a two-story home with an attached garage that was engulfed in heavy flames that appeared to be spreading to the home.

Authorities said crews also received reports that a person inside the home was missing.

Crews began a search inside the home as they worked to control the fire and during the search they located the victim who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

After approximately 30 minutes, crews were able to bring the fire under control, but an investigation into the incident by the Buffalo Grove Fire Department, in conjunction with the Illinois State Fire Marshal, is ongoing.

Authorities say the victim’s identity is being withheld pending an examination by the Lake County coroner.
