Girl ‘sexually abused’ on Bournemouth seafront

A teenage girl was reportedly sexually assaulted on Bournemouth seafront.

Police patrol officers were alerted to the incident in the Bournemouth Pier area at around 7.45pm on Friday 19 July.

According to Dorset Police, the girl was touched inappropriately by a man.

A 20-year-old man from London was arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse and has since been released on bail pending further investigations.

A Dorset Police spokesman said: “Officers – who received the report directly as they were on foot patrol in the immediate area – responded and it was reported that a man had sexually assaulted a young girl by inappropriate touching.”

Getting to the Pier

The police spokesman added: “Officers were at the scene as part of their increased patrols in Bournemouth town centre and beach and we will continue to work with our partners to ensure a visible presence in the area.”

“The police will cooperate with the public and are accessible to anyone with information or concerns.”

It is believed that this incident was unrelated to the large brawl reported at Pier Approach, to which police were called just 15 minutes later.
