Ryanair passenger narrowly avoids jail sentence after sexually harassing male flight attendant

A British tourist has avoided a prison sentence after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a male flight attendant.

The incident occurred last September on a Ryanair flight from Newcastle to Mallorca.

A court in Palma heard that the incident occurred due to a problem with a credit card during the Ryanair flight from Newcastle to Palma on September 29.

While the male flight attendant tried to resolve the matter, the passenger pinched his right nipple and then grabbed his buttocks with both hands.

The Majorca Daily Bulletin reports that the pilot reported the incident by telephone and the Guardia Civil was already waiting when the plane landed.

In a court in Palma on Monday, the public prosecutor reduced the original sentence of one year and seven months.

After negotiations with the defense, the sentence was reduced to twelve months, suspended for two years.

The passenger is also required to participate in sex education programs for twelve months.

This comes after violent British tourists were attacked by Magaluf residents for defecating, having sex and behaving disrespectfully in the Spanish resort.

A restaurant owner in Magaluf said tourists had treated the Balearic island badly, claiming the culture of “drinking and partying” only contributed to the “rundown” of the area.

Under the new restrictions, tourists in Playa de Palma and Magaluf on Mallorca and in San Antonio on Ibiza must stick to certain authorized zones when consuming alcohol.

Anyone found outside these zones faces fines of between 500 and 1,500 euros (430 to 1,290 pounds) if their behaviour “disturbs coexistence, causes crowds or disturbs the peace and quiet of the area”.

Ariana Riesquo-Tomos, another restaurant owner who runs a pizzeria with her Italian husband, criticised British tourists for coming for “the alcohol and chaos” that Mallorca offers.

A British restaurant owner told MailOnline that her fellow countrymen, walking past a nearby nightclub, “pee in the corner or do a big business or have sex” outside her establishment.
