Strong to severe storms are possible on Monday

ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) — Monday is a First Alert Day, as two rounds of strong to severe storms are possible in southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa.

Round 1 is expected to impact southeast Minnesota between 8 and 11 a.m. this morning, with some strong storms possible along the I-35 corridor. Strong winds and hail will be the main hazards this round.

We should get a few hours of dry conditions before round 2 arrives later this afternoon. This second round of storms is expected to arrive between 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The chance for severe storms is higher during this afternoon round, with wind and hail being the main threats. The tornado threat is low in our area, but not completely zero, so keep an eye on it. Highs today will be between 27 and 30 degrees, with light southerly winds.

The Midwest will be cooler, more pleasant and calmer on Tuesday and the weather will stay that way through the end of the work week. Temperatures will be in the low to high 77 degrees Fahrenheit all week with widespread sunshine. The weekend promises pleasant temperatures with highs in the low 77 degrees Fahrenheit and mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.
