22-year-old found guilty of sexual assault in CCSU dormitory

The jury found that Cole Szegda committed the crime on October 23, 2020, in a campus dormitory.

NEW BRITAIN, Connecticut – A New Britain Superior Court jury on Friday found a 22-year-old Columbia, Connecticut, man guilty of first-degree sexual assault, according to a news release from the state’s Division of Criminal Justice.

On October 23, 2020, Cole Szegda sexually assaulted a Central Connecticut State University student in an on-campus dormitory, according to prosecutors. Szegda will return to New Britain Superior Court for sentencing on August 29.

The press release stated that the Honorable Carl E. Taylor presided over the trial. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Sara Greene with assistance from Inspector Felix Perez.

Both District Attorney Christian M. Watson and Greene thanked the Central Connecticut State University police for their investigative efforts in this case, the press release said.
