Seven-car crash causes traffic closures on Highway 204 westbound in the Gateway Blvd area.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Westbound Highway 204 is closed in the area of ​​Gateway Blvd. due to a multi-vehicle crash and entrapment. There is currently no timeline for when the road will reopen.

Currently, Highway 204 westbound is closed just past the Highway 17 exit to I-95. Traffic is being diverted via Highway 17 and the roads are expected to be closed for several hours. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes.

According to Chatham County Police, this accident, combined with the closure of westbound I-16, is expected to have a significant impact on afternoon traffic.

WTOC currently believes that seven vehicles were involved in the accident.

According to CCPD, most of the injuries are superficial, but at least one person was trapped and the severity of their injuries is currently unknown.
