St Catherine’s teacher charged with sexually soliciting and touching 12-year-old student, remanded in custody | News

The St. Catherine’s teacher accused of sexually abusing his 12-year-old student has been remanded in custody until September 10.

The teacher, whose name is not being mentioned to protect the child, is accused of sexual initiation, indecent assault and sexual touching.

When the case was mentioned in St Catherine’s Parish Court on Tuesday, Senior Parish Judge Desiree Alleyne refused an application for bail.

The defendant is accused of sexually abusing the child in the facility where he was employed.

The incident was reported to the police and an investigation was launched.

The teacher was arrested and subsequently charged.
