Lake Charles man arrested in St. Martin Parish for registering as a sex offender

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) – A Calcasieu Parish man wanted on sex offender registration charges since January 2023 was arrested in St. Martin Parish.

According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s OfficeIn January 2023, Sex Offender Unit investigators began an investigation into convicted sex offender Albert L. Breaux, 44, of Lake Charles, after he failed to register.


In December 2022, Breaux failed to report for his quarterly registration update. Investigators later learned that Breaux left his registered address in Lake Charles and did not notify law enforcement within three days. Both actions constituted a violation of its registration requirements.

In January 2023, investigators issued an arrest warrant for Breaux. They attempted to locate Breaux but were unsuccessful. On Wednesday, investigators learned that Breaux was found in St. Martin Parish. He was arrested and extradited to Calcasieu Parish.

Breaux was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with two counts of failure to register as a sex offender. His bail is $80,000.

Breaux was convicted of forcible rape in Orleans Parish in 2000.
