Two men found dead at Omega Pond in East Providence

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI (WWLP) – Two men were found dead Friday after kayaking on a pond in East Providence.

According to East Providence Police, 911 calls were received about two men who did not return home after a kayaking trip Thursday evening. The report states the two men were at Omega Pond and have not been heard from since.


Officials and firefighters searched the pond for the two men and used a drone to locate a body under the water’s surface. The body was located very close to the two empty kayaks. A short time later, a second body was found.

The bodies were identified as 52-year-olds Joseph Fritz from East Providence and 37 years old Gregory Boerman of Allston. The incident is under investigation and the deaths are not considered suspicious at this time.
