PSP investigates fatal accident in Montour County

VALLEY TOWNSHIP, MONTOUR COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — The Montour County Coroner’s Office has released information following a fatal accident in Valley Township on Sunday.

The Montour County Coroner’s Office said it was called along with the Milton, Pennsylvania, State Police to investigate a fatal crash that occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday.


According to authorities, the accident occurred at the intersection of State Route 54, Continental Boulevard, and State Route 642, Liberty Valley Road, in Valley Township.

According to officials, 64-year-old Richard Heath of Danville was driving west on State Route 54 when he attempted to turn left onto State Route 642 West.

Heath crossed into the path of an oncoming car driven by Chad Knauer of Milton and was struck, the coroner said.

According to the coroner’s office, Heath died at 2:16 p.m. at Geisinger Medical Center.

There is no information about whether and what injuries the other driver sustained.

The investigation into this incident is currently ongoing.
