Horror on July 4th in Queens: Child dead, police shoot suspect after stabbing

Independence Day on July 4th turned into a nightmare in Queens on Thursday afternoon after police shot and killed a suspect in a fatal stabbing incident, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

According to sources familiar with the matter, police officers from the 103rd District rushed to a luxury apartment building in the Jamaica neighborhood, 147-25 94th Avenue, around 5:40 p.m.

As more details emerge, sources say four people were injured, including a baby, and several victims suffered stab wounds.

Upon arrival, authorities said, officers encountered a person with a knife and fired several shots at the person. The suspect’s condition is currently known.

However, sources familiar with the situation report that an eight-year-old child was killed in the fatal incident. The condition of the other children remains unclear.

Police are expected to brief the media on the incident later Thursday evening.
