Pedestrian killed on SR-54 in Pasco County: FHP

The man allegedly tried to cross the street.

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – A 44-year-old New Port Richey man died while crossing the road in Pasco County after being struck by two drivers, Florida Highway Patrol officials said.

It happened just before 12:30 a.m. Thursday on SR-54 west of Highland Loop. A 19-year-old man from New Port Richey was driving a Hyundai Elantra westbound on SR-54 in the middle lane. Directly behind him in the outside lane was a 68-year-old woman from Holiday, also driving westbound on the highway.

When both drivers were west of Highland Loop, the 44-year-old attempted to cross the highway and was struck by both cars, one after the other, FHP said. He died at the scene.

According to FHP, none of the drivers were injured.
